We are now broadcasting from Road Runner hill! A tech came out last night and found the line indeed had a good signal since they upped the power on it. On the other hand, the modem was old and crusty and wouldn't keep a connection. So I'm now set up with a new(er) cable modem and the line has been stable for about 12 hours... and I didn't have much problem at all with the infamous Time Warner support.
I love the download; At 5Mbs it's about twice as fast as my Zoomtown DSL. But the 400Kbs upload is about half of DSL. That's a trade I can live with I guess. I didn't notice any difference in ping playing UT2004 last night either. So I guess it won't make much of a difference except in the checkbook. Bye bye Cincinnati Bell. :(
I've been reading that Time Warner also offers Road Runner as a stand alone service for no extra charge over the $44.95 a month that you pay when you have their cable TV service. If I get cheap I may drop the digital TV. It all depends on if my daughter can live without her Playhouse Disney and my wife can live without her Weather Channel.
